Omron Sensors: Proximity Sensors

Proximity Sensors convert information on the movement or presence of an object into an electrical signal. There are three types of detection systems that do this conversion: systems that use the eddy currents that are generated in metallic sensing objects by electromagnetic induction, systems that detect changes in electrical capacity when approaching the sensing object, and systems that use magnets and reed switches.

 

Omron Proximity Sensors are available in models using high-frequency oscillation to detect ferrous and non-ferrous metal objects, and in capacitive models to detect non-metal objects. Environment-resistant, heat-resistant, chemical-resistant and water-resistant models are available.

 

Cylindrical Proximity Sensors: Cylindrical Proximity Sensors resist heat, chemicals and water better than Rectangular Sensors. They are available in both shielded and unshielded models.

 

Rectangular Proximity Sensors: Rectangular Proximity Sensors are available in a wide range of sizes to enable selection to match the installation location.

 

Separate Amplifier Proximity Sensors: Proximity Sensor with separate amplifier fits in a smaller space and allows more flexible mounting and adjustment.

 

Capacitive Sensors: Capacitive Sensors are widely used to detect non-metal objects, such as liquids and plastics. Analog Output Sensors Proximity Sensor with Analog Output provides precision linear voltage of current or voltage output for target to sensing distance.
